Seems like my life has revolved around this phrase "I'll Wait". I have waited for Christ centered community. I have waited for God to put together broken relationships that were and are in my life. I have chosen to wait till marriage to give myself away. I waited for this dream of Marqué to be a reality. I waited on a diagnosis. I waited while my heart healed from my own decisions to rebel against God. I am waiting for God to give the okay on the next person I date. I waited for direction on where I was supposed to be in school or if I was even supposed to be in school at all. I have waited and I am waiting for God to open impossible doors. I am waiting for the opportunity to adopt lots of beautiful children. I waited nervously in a waiting room to have surgery. I waited for the news if I was going to be able to have my own kids one day. There has been a lot of waiting in my short 22 years of life, but I would not trade a minute of the wait.
Not just waiting but waiting on God will take you further than you could have ever dreamed. Your wait will make what you are waiting for all the more worth it. You wont be settling or compromising God's best for you, it will be everything He has and more for you. If you wait.
The scripture talks so much about waiting on The Lord.
Psalm 38:15- Lord, Iwait for you; you will answer, Lord my God.
Isaiah 30:18- Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lordis a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!
Lamentations 3:24- I say to myself, “The Lordis my portion; therefore Iwillwait for Him.”
Habakkuk 2:3- For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait forit; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Micah 7:7- But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, Iwait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.
Lamentations 3:26-it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.
Hosea 12:6-But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.
Psalm 130:5-6--I pray to God—my life a prayer— and wait for what He’ll say and do. My life’s on the line before God, my Lord, waiting and watching till morning, waiting and watching till morning. (MSG)
Waiting in my life has taught me what true dependance on The Lord looks like. When we are granted the answers, the things, and the people we desire right away, it takes away our need for God. God desires for you to come to Him with your request and fervently pray for them but that does not mean that it will happen the next day. Waiting builds in us character traits that I believe God desperately wants us to have.
If you are waiting know that God is creating in you more of Himself and His image. Do not rush the wait because He is preparing you for what is to come that you cannot yet see. He is burning away all of your "self motives" & giving you a new perspective. He yearns for you to trust Him, to rely on Him, & believe Him that He has not forgotten about you.
It is hard for me to truly express how much I love and hate the wait. Im human just like you and desire to have what I want right now. Thats the culture we live in but thats why waiting is Gods culture. Waiting isn't of this world. The worlds mentality is,"If you want it, go get it" but Gods mentality is wait and listen for my direction.
I want to challenge you this week to pray and seek God about what areas in your life He is asking you to trust Him. To truly wait on Him and believe Him to come through for you. I also want to challenge you to find His promises in His Word and meditate on them. His Word is what gives this life meaning. What you are waiting for will bring you joy and mean so much to you but Jesus and His Word means so much more.
Don't get caught up in the world's lie that you can go out and do it yourself. If you did it yourself you wouldn't be giving God any credit. God desires to be glorified in and through your life. Letting Him make things happen while allowing Him to direct your steps will lead you to all the right doors to walk through. He will receive all the glory and you will receive His beautiful, glorious story.
