Today i'm going to share a story about how God has been in the details of my life and has continually reminded me that He sees me and desires to show Himself to me. And He desires to show himself to you and remind you that He sees you as well. I hope this story and truths encourage you.
On September 16, 2013 my church (Passion City Church) hosted their first ladies gathering. The gathering is called "The Grove". This night was incredible and there was a ton of God spoken truth on this night. We covered four different topics one was ROOTED, two was FLOURISH, three was FREEDOM, and four was SHADE.
Ultimately their desire is for us as a collective group of women to be a reflection of a Grove of Trees. For us to be ROOTED in the Lord, to FLOURISH in Jesus and His plan for our lives, to find FREEDOM from what entangles us, and for us to be SHADE to each other and all who surround us.
The one that stood out the most to me was FLOURISH. It wasn't even the word that stuck out to me the most, it was more of what the girl who was giving her thoughts on the topic had said. She read Psalm 52:8 to us which says
"But I am like an Olive Tree flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God's unfailing love forever and ever."
After she read this verse she told us that she had done some more research on the olive tree. She told us something along the lines of this-
"Its root system is robust and capable of regenerating the tree even if the above-ground structure is destroyed.
Meaning that no matter the damage done on the exterior the interior(the roots) because they are deep and are planted by water (The Living Water) these trees will always regenerate and will never be shaken. These trees cannot be moved because their roots are so deep."
Isn't this what are relationship with Jesus is supposed to look like that we are constantly in His presence longing to know Him more and constantly in His word that our roots are deep and grounded in Him. That our roots would be satisfied and replenished because we are planted beside the LIVING WATER- JESUS!
Psalm 1:3 says:
"That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-
whatever they do prospers."
Anyway so as I process through all of this, I just can't seem to get the Olive Tree off my mind that whole next week, God obviously had a plan.
Like most girls we like to share what is going on in our lives with our best friend. So I hadn't talked to my best friend Hannah in awhile and had to call and tell her all about The Grove and the amazing things God was doing at PCC.
I started sharing the four topics we covered and then I started sharing about the Olive Tree all of the sudden it got real quiet and then she started laughing and kind of sounded in shock.
((Back Story: My birthday was August 16 and now we are past Sept 16 and I hadn't received my present from her yet and she had been meaning to send it))
I then proceeded to ask is everything okay, and she said " Al, you are not going to believe what I have done for you for your birthday. I painted you an Olive Tree because God was speaking to me about being Rooted and wanted you to have a constant reminder of having deep roots and being a strong woman in the Lord. God is so good."
IF YOU DONT BELIEVE GOD IS IN THE DETAILS WELL... HE IS!!
so I am now in shock after she tells me this and usually I would be in tears.
I truly can't get over how much God loves each and every one of us. In this case I felt overwhelmed by His love for me. That He knew I didn't need that gift from her until I had been to The Grove so He could speak that word of being
A STRONG ,ROOTED, FLOURISHING Tree, over my life.
He knows us better than we know ourselves, He wants to work miracles and show Himself to you all throughout your life and He deeply desires to be near to you.
I hope you know today that whether you see Jesus or not He is working all in and around your life. God is a God of surprises and He delights in showing more of Himself to you and especially showing Himself to you through the people you love.
I am so thankful for my sister Hannah Barkocy and that Her obedience to Jesus has blessed me beyond words.
I hope you are encouraged today and that you are always looking for Jesus in the details.
In His Love
